About the Atelierhaus Salzamt
Since July 2009, the Atelierhaus Salzamt has been a cultural institution of the city of Linz in a central location on the Danube:
- Five artists' studios for international scholarship holders
- Four studios for regional artists from Linz or Upper Austria
- Housing for the international artists
- Exhibition and event hall with ongoing exhibition activities
- International artistic exchange and integration of guests in various Linz projects
- Art education through artist talks and studio visits
Bright, friendly, lots of glass and charming glimpses of the old building fabric - this is how the renovated Salzamt on Obere Donaulände presents itself. International and national artists live and work in this cultural institution of the city of Linz.
Regional - International
The Atelierhaus Salzamt is a meeting place for young visual artists from Austria and abroad. A total of nine studios are available here.
Four international scholarship holders are each provided with a small apartment and their own studio free of charge for a period of one to three months. The artists will receive a monthly stipend to cover their living expenses. A fifth studio is rented to the province of Upper Austria. The goal is that in return Linz artists will also be provided with studios and scholarships in international partner institutions. Four additional studios without residential units will also be given free of charge to artists from Linz and Upper Austria. They can use them for a period of two years.
Exhibitions & Projects
Exhibitions, lectures, discussions, presentations and other events take place in the 170 square meter exhibition hall on the ground floor of the Salzamt.
